1. Do not assume that Turkey is what you see in press
You should be aware and cautious, just asyou would at home or abroad in any other country. Check media and adjust yourplans based on new information.
2. Do not underestimate how big Turkey is
Turkey is a massive courtry, do not underestimate how long it takes to drive between places. Do not expect to over much ground by bus or a rental car.
3. Do not leave it to the last minute to book a hotel
If you are visiting Turkey during itspeak season from May to September, it would be recommeded that you book ahead.Also, Booking.com does not work in Turkey.
4. Do not forget to get your e-visa
You need an e-Visa to enter Turkey. Charges vary depending on nationality.
5. Do not skip the museum pass
If you are visiting Turkey and are headed to multiple cities, buy the Museum Pass. It is accepted at most museums and archaeological sites.
6. Do not forget to learn a few Turkish phrases.
If you can learn a few basic phrases before your trip, it would be very helpful. Local people,especially old ones do not completely understand English.
7. Becareful about what you wear in conservative places.
Even tough most people are Muslim inTurkey, they are not extremely conservative. Especially in the coastal areas and beach destinations. But do not forget wear conservative clothes when visiting mosques and rural areas.
8. Do not underestimate how many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Turkey.
There are 18 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Turkey and there are also 78 sites that are the Tentative List for World Heritage status. Turkey is incredibly rich in culture and history.
9. Do not miss out on what Turkey has to offer besides Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale.
When people think of Turkey, most people think of Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale. But there are other prosperous historical places to visit like Gobeklitepe, Pergamon, Troy and amazing turistic places to have a holiday like Alacati, Bodrum, Fethiye and Kas.
10. Do not limit your time in Turkey to few days
If you want to Travel multiple cities and historical places in Turkey, you at least need to reserve your 2 weeks to travel properly.
